Where My Heart Is

This week I found myself out in the greenhouse, creating fresh dye stock. The gentle fragrance rising from the simmering pot instantly carried me back—flooding my mind with wonderful memories tied to colour, making, and seasons past.

As I gathered seeds from expired plants and returned the rest of each stem and leaf to the flower bed, I was reminded of the beautiful cycle of life a plant lives through. Nothing is wasted. Each stage has meaning—growth, bloom, seed, and return.

For me, natural dyeing has always been more than simmering plants in hot water. It’s about connection: to the land, to memory, and to the stitches those colours will one day become. It’s where my heart is.

I have so much more to share—new patterns, dye stories, and little glimpses of the creative process. 🌿✨ If you’d like to follow along, subscribe to Petal & Purl so you don’t miss what’s coming next.
